The Corkonian Militia stems all the way back to 2020, when Cork first started there was no official standing army, so in turn a peoples militia took charge of the country's defence. This militia was led by leader of Cork grandhappy.
As there was no army the only "soldiers" there was, were all part of a militia. To be noted this militia was not even named at this point. It had no hierarchy, structure, flags, coat of arms, insignia, uniforms or anything. It comprised of around 11-13 people.
Additionally the militia took control at the first ever battle Cork was in, against the "united bloxxers league" (a now defunct raiders group). The militia won this battle by a small margin.
It was during the war of independence (which included both the battles against UBL and the other irish group) that structure started to take place, a CoLeader was assigned (Junker) and ranks were eventually created, although broken.
1st Cork-Celtic war
During the 1st Cork-Celtic war the military still wasn't as developed. It still relied on just a big group changing alot. Inwhich the militia was still used extensively along with the army.
2nd Cork Celtic war-Present day
The militia was not used as much after the 1st Cork Celtic war, with multiple advancements made in the army/navy/airforce and more structured hirearchy being established, it just had less use.
Present Day
In the present day of Cork the militia still exists. Each County has its own militia force, the militias are not apart of the army nor are commanded by the army, they are essentially like a county's own army for defence. Militias are funded by the county they are in, from its weapons to uniforms.
Operations
Alot of militias are un-operational due to the less imposed threat of invasion from a foreign power, some militias are still active as ceremonial like the Rathlin militia. Some still see active recruitment and regular trainings/exercises like the Waterford milita and the Limerick milita.
2024 Corkonian Re-organisation
In January of 2024 the Corkonian Government took charge of the militia temporarily too standardise the militia and organise it. This is known as the Home Army Act.
It included:
Standardizing uniforms.
Standardizing units.
Standardizing ranks.
Standardizing equipment.
Establishing a chain of command.
Supply and funding from County councils.
Designated jurisdictions.
Designated areas of operation.
Rules and laws of engagement.
Active Units
Here is a list of active militia units of the Royal Corkonian Militia.
Here is a list of actively used equipment of militia units. Not all units/detachments will be using the same stuff all the time however this is what are usually supplied.
Note it is forbidden for a militia unit to be equipped with automatic weaponry unless it is fully permitted too by county authorities and government authorities. Such weapons are to be regularly inspected and must be put in secure lockers.

Notes
Pistols
Heckler & Koch USP
Germany
Semi-Automatic Pistol
9x19mm
The USP is the primary pistol of the Royal Militia. Not all militiamen are assigned one and infact is rarely issued at all. Standard militiamen are expected to carry revolvers instead of a semi-automatic pistol. However, these are still used in heated areas like Waterford and Limerick.
Assault Rifles
AR-10
United States
Assault Rifle
5.56×45mm
The AR-10 is extensively used by militia units. The militia was granted AR-10 stockpiles that were retired from the Corkonian police and armed forces. It also does not provide capabilities of full automatic fire and only allows for semi-automatic.
L85A1
United Kingdom
Assault Rifle
5.56×45mm
The L85A1 is the standard issue rifle of the Royal Militia. Its designated the L85A1M1 as it is modified to not have automatic fire. It only allows for semi-automatic fire.
Rifles & Sniper rifles
FN Fal
Belgium
Battle Rifle
7.62x51mm
The FN Fal is extensively used by militia units, for its good accuracy, high magazine count and good reputation almost all militia units in some form use or have used this rifle.
Only the Mk.2 variant is used, a custom variant created by Cork with the turret removed. Used for riot control training and armoured transport. An additional 8 have been planned to be bought.
The Mk.5 variant of the Chieftan tank is a variant designed by the Corkonian army with the gun and machine gun removed. It is entirely for armoured transport and was phased out of the army and donated too militias.
The Mitsubishi Pajero is used as a primary troop transporter for militia forces. There is a total of around 210-300 in use with plans of an additional 30.
Used by Artillery Corps. Two systems were acquired in 2006 each system has 3 Orbiter UAV's. Two were destroyed in crashes and one was lost and never recovered. €2m was spent on 12 new UAVs in 2016/17.
