The Corkonian Militia stems all the way back to 2020, when Cork first started there was no official standing army, so in turn a peoples militia took charge of the country's defence. This militia was led by leader of Cork grandhappy.

History

War of Independence

Militia on the war of independence.
Militia before Cork's first battle.

As there was no army the only "soldiers" there was, were all part of a militia. To be noted this militia was not even named at this point. It had no hierarchy, structure, flags, coat of arms, insignia, uniforms or anything. It comprised of around 11-13 people.

Additionally the militia took control at the first ever battle Cork was in, against the "united bloxxers league" (a now defunct raiders group). The militia won this battle by a small margin.

It was during the war of independence (which included both the battles against UBL and the other irish group) that structure started to take place, a CoLeader was assigned (Junker) and ranks were eventually created, although broken.

=1st Cork-Celtic war

During the 1st Cork-Celtic war the military still wasn't as developed. It still relied on just a big group changing alot. Inwhich the militia was still used extensively along with the army.

2nd Cork Celtic war-Present day

The militia was not used as much after the 1st Cork Celtic war, with multiple advancements made in the army/navy/airforce and more structured hirearchy being established, it just had less use.

Present Day

In the present day of Cork the militia still exists. Each County has its own militia force, the militias are not apart of the army nor are commanded by the army, they are essentially like a county's own army for defence. Militias are funded by the county they are in, from its weapons to uniforms.

Operations

Alot of militias are un-operational due to the less imposed threat of invasion from a foreign power, some militias are still active as ceremonial like the Rathlin militia. Some still see active recruitment and regular trainings/exercises like the Waterford milita and the Limerick milita.

Active Units

Here is a list of active militia units of the Royal Corkonian Militia.
