The United Nations or just UN is a group that is made up of member states that sets out on resolving diplomatic issues and global affairs, it is not led by one nation but instead governed by five nations that are routinely voted on.

Structure

The General Assembly

The General Assembly is the main assembly (meeting) of the UN, every nation in the world is permitted to participate, if non-member states participate they are put in as spectators. The General Assembly meets in weekly sessions at the General Assembly Hall located in the UN Headquarters, emergency sessions can be called by any state however if for no valid reason they would be dismissed. Nations are not required/forced to attend. The assembly is led by a president which is elected by member states on a rotational basis and 5 vice presidents.

Each nation is too send representatives/diplomats to represent them (or just have the leader come). When the General Assembly decides on important questions such as those on peace and security, admission of new members and budgetary matters, a two-thirds majority of those present and voting is required. All other questions are decided by a majority vote. Each member has one vote, resolutions are not binding on the members. The Assembly may make recommendations on any matters within the scope of the UN, except matters of peace and security that are under consideration by the Security Council.
