A surface vessel is a ship that operates above sea water. Effectively anything but a submarine counts as a surface vessel. Every navy in RoNation's will or has or is operated/operating a surface vessel at some point. The most common surface vessels are destroyers, being the bulk of the former Corkonian Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force

Types

Destroyer

A destroyer is described as a "a fast, manoeuvrable, long-endurance warship intended to escort larger vessels in a fleet, convoy, or carrier battle group and defend them against a wide range of general threats", with this definition, most navies typically would assign them to fleets in a protective manner, however some navies such as the Celtic Navy, former Corkonian Navy, German Navy and others largely use these as offensive vessels to directly scout enemy ships.

On the 11th of January 2023, a Corkonian destroyer, CN-D-1 was sunk in the North sea of the coast of Germany, being one of RoNation's first example of ship to air combat. The destroyer was a type 45 modified by the Corkonian navy]].
