The Royal Corkonian Army or the Corkonian Army is the main component of the Royal Corkonian Armed Forces, it comprises of the land troops. The army has been extensively deployed both home and abroad ever since its creation in 2020. Today the Corkonian Army, also known as the Royal Corkonian Army, is comprised mainly into two brigades with the Kings Brigade being a more formalised brigade for the Guard Regiments.

The Army in its current form was re-organised with the Corkonian Armed Forces 2024 Re-Organisation Act defining the new needs and requirements for the army to act as a dynamic and changeable force across multiple areas of the world.

History

The War Of Independence

The army didn't exactly exist in the war of independence. It was mainly a militia at that point and time, there was no existing rank structure and there were only two leaders who held any real command. The term "Cork Army" was mainly used to name this militia however wasn't a true army.

The Invasion of the Coral Sea Island's

The invasion of the Coral Sea islands was to date the biggest war in RoNation's entire history (written 19th jan). It involved a coalition of more than 8 different countries in a combined crusade to eliminate the "Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands"

Ranks and insignias

The ranks and insignias of the Corkonian army are based around the real life Irish and British armies. The ranks have gone through a lot of changes over the years, however with the Corkonian Armed Forces 2024 Re-Organisation Act they were permanently fixed.

There are two categories of ranks, Commissioned Officers and Enlisted.

The ranks of Senior Captain and Captain General were removed with the Corkonian Armed Forces 2024 Re-Organisation Act establishing the new command structure. WO2 and WO1 are mostly regimental staff.

Structure

The Corkonian Army follows a Brigade-Regimental System. How it works is each province has its own Brigade (cork) which is commanded by a Brigadier and in that Brigade (cork) there can be either Regiments or Independent Companies/Independent Battalions. In these Regiments there are Battalions or sometimes Independent Companies, of which are commanded by Lieutenant Colonels, Regiments themselves are commanded by Colonels.

Within Battalions, there are Companies which consist of Platoons.

The Corkonian Army adopted this all the way back in 2023 however fully implemented it within the Corkonian Armed Forces 2024 Re-Organisation Act, which forced the Brigade-Regimental System. There are however some independent Companies that exist.

Uniforms

The Corkonian Army has multiple categories of uniforms, ranging from ceremonial, to combat to evening wear and barracks wear. The main uniform is called the "I3 Woodlands" which stands for "Iteration 3 Woodlands" as it is the third iteration of the Corkonian woodland camo uniforms. The I3 camos see active use in every single unit of the army, however some older garrison units and training units, such as in the Armed Forces Training Corps who uses the old I1 and I2 camos for its training squads. Some units have additional uniform sets, either it be ceremonial or cultural to it. One such example is the Scottish Guard Regiment (cork) who has a bagpiper uniform for parade and ceremonial usage. The camos are typically referred to as the "Field Dress", as it is used for all operations.

The Corkonian army additionally has formals based on the real life Irish army's formals, and following the Irish army's example, it is referred to as the "Service Dress" in which it is for ceremonial usage, garrison usage, parade usage and anything not to do with combat.

There are also other variants of uniforms and codes for uniforms, for example, with the Field Dress the only acceptable headgear is beret, caubeen or helmet, whereas for the Service Dress the only acceptable headgear is the beret, caubeen and visor cap.

I1 Camos

When the I1 Camos were in active service they were not referred to as the "Service Dress", they were, for a long time, the only uniform within the Corkonian army, this would involve its ranks being put on, its insignias, its flags too.

The I1 Camos would have two side patches, the left would feature its regimental and battalion insignia and on the right it would feature the corps, this could range from the infantry, artillery, army air corps and a few others. During this time a lot of the army was more spread out, platoons were able to have multiple people from other Corps.

AC1 Camos

The AC1 Camos, also referred to as the "Army Camos 1" were a forest based camo uniform for the Corkonian army that saw usage from 2022 to 2024, the AC1 was used in all terrains and wars with the Corkonian army.

1st FRC uniform

During the Dalmation Offensive the 1st Foreign Response Company was sent from Cork to Croatia to help fight Yugoslavia, in which a custom uniform was made for them based on the Russian camo pattern "Ratnick".

Deployments

The Corkonian Army is deployed to numerous of its Home Territories, which include Brittany, Wales, Cornwall and Ireland with some parts of Scotland. Usually these deployments involve peacekeeping and ensuring security of the territories and the people within them. However, mostly these deployments just involve training exercises or patrols and don't usually result in violence or conflict with the locals. The same cannot be said about deployment to foreign territory or Colonial Territories. One example would be the Army Ranger Wing, of which has a unit stationed in Gibraltar, which is owned by the Celtic Union, they regularly find themselves in conflict with local insurgents.

The Corkonian Army has specific units for foreign quick deployments, this involve the 3rd air-assault Brigade (cork) which features the bulk of the Corkonian Airborne Corps. These units are designed to be able to deploy to any of Cork's territories at any notice and in which they usually comprise of light infantry. When it comes to overseas deployments Cork also involves itself with peacekeeping such as its involvement in the Pukosorodyian Civil War where the 1st (Motorized) Response Company was sent to aid the Pukosorodyian army against Islamic insurgents.

Sometimes the Corkonian army is deployed for riot control or to ensure civil security. This is usually rare and almost never done as counties would deploy the Armed Response Unit first to help quell riots, then if needed would deploy the army.
